SHAMBALLA BRACELETS CRAZE (mugambi)

Since some time in 2011 there has been new bracelets in town which the teens call “shampalas” which actually started in 1994 in France. now they are everywhere from US to Africa.

The teens can spend all there money just to get their hands on one. as i have come to learn that this bracelets which might come with marching necklaces are the latest craze, even Jaguar *(the musician) has a set of these. and trust me, he brags about it… That he bought it from the USA. WHICH might be true considering he has some money to spend.I have also noted he wares the same shamballa in his 2 latest music videos i.e Kigeugeu and Matapeli.

Jaguar isn’t the only artist with a shamballa. There are major celebrities that have been spotted with these jewelry. My friend Trevor says he knew about from MEEK MILL of the popular MMG Music group. Thats one of the best excuse to get a shamballa, MMG is the bomb.

I am proud to say that i am lucky to have finished high school before the Kenyan post election violence. the fashion craze then was more of what the following Jamaican celebrities were doing e.g Sean Paul,Shaggy, TOK, Beenie man and later sensations of Vybez Kartel with their beefs with Alliance. This saw the release of  “am so special” by Mavado and a slight re-enactment of the breakdance to Dancehall music. By then we were more into Shoes-clarks is what i preferred. They represented my African simplicity. Theres a new riddim with Turbulance, Lutan Fire, Antony B and other legendary dance-hall legends who i’d love to emulate by waring .

they (the Kenyan Crafted Shamballas) range from Kes300 to Kes5,000. They are available in stores all over Nairobi, Maasai market and selected supermarkets like Nakumatt Galleria.

  1. Having read this I thought it was rather informative.

I appreciate you spending some time and energy to put this content together.
I once again find myself spending a significant amount of time both reading and leaving comments.
But so what, it was still worthwhile!
