Dr. Patrick Ngugi Njoroge has been nominated by President Kenyatta to be the next governor of the Central Bank of Kenya. A Ph.D. holder in Economics from Yale University (1987-1993), Dr. Njoroge obtained bachelor (1979-1983) and master degrees (1983-1985) in Economics from the University of Nairobi. Starting his career as a planning officer at Kenya’s ministry of planning (1985-1987) and later an economist at the finance ministry (1993-1994), Dr. Njoroge proceeded to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as an economist in April 1995. He would be leaving the IMF as an Advisor to the Deputy Managing Director, a position he has held since December 2012.
